Help, I’m running out of paper
In something of a last minute dash to the finishing line, St Paul rounds off his first letter to the Thessalonian Christians with a brilliant, if somewhat frantic, summary of the essentials of a healthy spirituality (way to live the Christian life.)
In a brief few verses we receive eight commands and one promise.
The Core – Rejoice always, Pray without ceasing, in everything Give thanks
put another way, Celebration, God Awareness, Gratitude
The Direction – Don’t quench the Spirit – that is, be open to God’s future
The Disposition – Test everything, Embrace the good, Shun evil –
put another way, Don’t be naïve – Be “UNgullible”.
The Promise – the one who called you is faithful (God can go the distance!)
