A Festival of Love and Hope

John 11:  32-44  “A Festival  of Love and Hope”

This has been called the Church’s Memorial Day, a commemoration of God’s glory in history.  We share in the characters, influence and achievements of every saint, hero and martyr to find inspiration to continue on our own pilgrimage.  It is a time to reflect upon the seeds of eternity which God has sown within each one of us, seeds that produce the harvest of the past, present and future.

The Saints’ secret surely is in their devotion to the Lord’s Christ for Christianity is not a system of doctrine nor an organisation important though these may be, but

a Person,  JESUS CHRIST, WHOSE LIVING BODY WE ARE.  Significantly Saints are ordinary people made extraordinary by GRACE!

All Saints and All Souls  are all one  in Jesus : “WHO FOR THE SAKE OF THE JOY THAT WAS SET BEFORE HIM, ENDURED THE CROSS, MAKING LIGHT OF ITS DISGRACE, AND IS SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND OF THE THRONE OF GOD” (Heb 12:2 ) (Sutton)

(Reflection )

Remember that that great multitude, which no one can number, that great

multitude from every nation and every people, that great cloud of witnesses

in the  heavenly choir; gathered around the throne of God; remember that

they will understand why you have given your life to the Lamb.
